From Kyoto Station, Bus or Taxi

The city bus or taxi is the most convenient way to get to our guesthouse from Kyoto JR train station.

The bus fare is 230 yen/person. If you are travelling in a group, and especially with big suit cases, we strongly recommend to take a taxi, because you need to walk up 250 m slope to our house. Taxi cost around 1400 yen, take you to right in front of the guesthouse.

For taking a bus, walk to the terminal area which is located in the north of the central exit, where you can see Kyoto Tower. Take #206 bus at D2 bus stand, make sure not at A3. If you get on at A3, you will go the other way round and takes hours to arrive.

Baggage is not reccommended on the bus in 2024

Since 2023, Kyoto City has been trying to ask passengers not to bring large baggage onto buses, as part of its overtourism countermeasures. Please be especially careful as bus No. 206 is the busiest route in the city. If you don’t want to take a taxi, plase check some other solutions we suggest in this page.

Coming by taxi

Please show this to the taxi driver, the driver will know exactly where we are. Or the driver will make a phone call to ask us.

Please do not show only the address, especially the one which is written in alphabet. It is normal in Japan the driver doesn’t understand the location by the address. Showing a map works better.

Coming by bus

Please be aware that Umamachi bus stop is a small one and you may not find the name on the bus stop sign post. Also be prepared because this bus is normally very crowded and some of our guests are not able to get off. When you see Umamachi on the electric sign board indicating the next stop, press the bell to inform the driver that you are going to get off at the next bus stop (or make sure someone has pressed the bell) and try to get closer to the exit. Umamachi is the next one after Higashiyama Shichijo bus stop and about 15 min from Kyoto station.

After you get off the bus, walk about 70 m forward to the same direction as the bus, to an intersection with traffic lights and Lawson convenience store. Turn right at this intersection, keep walking straight, passing S-shaped curve and you will see our guesthouse sign board on the right hand side. It is about 250 m long from the intersection and be prepared it is a slope upward.
