After living in Kyoto for 12 years, I finally went to the Kyoto Botanical Garden for the first time today. Unlike Higashiyama Ward, where people are squeezed in a cramped space, this is a vast area that makes you wonder if it’s also in Kyoto. There is Japan’s largest greenhouse, there is a forest, a pond, a lawn area, a rose garden, and even a shrine. I realized right away that this is too wide to go around in a few hours! It is a relaxing place where you can admire all kinds of plants and where time passes slowly. The botanical garden is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. They faced many troubles and there were so many twists and turns, so I am grateful that our ancestors left us such a fabulous facility.
This place is famous for cherry blossom viewing, and I could imagine the cherry blossoms blooming profusely in the season. This is the time when peonies are blooming, and I was mesmerized by each of those large flowers. The greenhouse here was interesting in particular. The huge facility is well maintained, there are rare plants and vibrant flowers blooming everywhere.
This place is not crowded throughout the year, so it’s recommended for travellers who are tired of visiting temples and shrines and want to take it easy.
在京都生活了12年，今天終於第一次去了京都府立植物園。與人們擠在狹小空間的東山區不同，這裡是一個讓人懷疑是否也在京都市内的廣闊區域。這裡有日本最大的溫室，有森林、池塘、草坪、玫瑰園，甚至還有神社。我進門后立刻意識到這太寬了，無法幾個小時内全部看完！這是一個可以欣賞各種植物、時間過慢悠悠的地方。植物園今年慶祝成立 100 週年。聽説經營當中遇到了許多困難，經歷了很多曲折，所以我很感謝我們的祖先給我們留下瞭如此美妙的設施。
這個地方以賞櫻而聞名，我可以想像到櫻花盛開的季節多麽美麗。我去的正是芍藥花開的時節，我被一朵朵大花迷住了，我盯著它看了很久。這裡的溫室特別有趣，設施裏每個角落都得到管理，到處都盛開著珍稀植物和色彩繽紛的花朵。
這裏全年都不會太擁擠，推薦給厭倦了參觀寺廟和神社並想放鬆一下的遊客。
京都に12年も住んで、やっと今日初めて府立植物園に行きました。所狭しとひしめき合う東山と違い、ここも京都かと驚くような広大なエリアに、日本最大級の「観覧温室」あり、森があり池があり、芝生エリアあり、バラ園もあり、神社までありと、広すぎて回り切れない！とすぐに気づきました。ありとあらゆる植物が鑑賞でき、また時間もゆったり流れていて癒される場所です。植物園は今年で設立100周年との事。紆余曲折があったようですが、先人がこんな素敵な施設を残してくれて感謝。
ここは桜鑑賞でも有名で、満開の頃のふんだんに咲き乱れる様子が想像できました。この時期は芍薬が咲いている時期で、大輪の花を一つ一つ眺めてうっとり。特にここの温室は構造がダイナミックで、めずらしい植物もあり色とりどりの花が至る所に咲いていて、見飽ずにじっくり楽しみました。
一年を通してあまり混みあっていないので寺社仏閣観光に疲れてぼーっとのんびり過ごしたい方にお勧めです。
